... Read More

... On Development of China in 30 Years

This topic comes from a lunch talk days ago with a visiting scholar from China and a colleague in our department, who is quite ignored on the Chinese issues. Though under most conditions, the discussions about China that covers the riskiness of the banking system, unfairness of educational resources, the bribery among the official servants and governmental departments, can easily reach a consistent conclusion, this time we are facing dispersion. Such dispersion, however, can mean the ignorance of knowledge on fundamental theories of accounting and finance, the reality of Chinese society, and, of course, so-called ‘face’ that is widely seen in Chinese cultures To avoid some unnecessary troubles, this article only summarizes the viewpoint of mine.... Read More

... Read More

... Read More

Ball and Brown (1968)

... Read More

师叔表示:“这个活动还是很有意义的,体现了XXX(此处省略若干字,参见中央电视台《新闻联播》)”。 ... Read More

Words for Spring Festival, 2011: English Version

There are two reasons that eventually promote me writing this post in English, even though I have published one with similar topic in Chinese some hours ago. The first reason is a kind suggestion from Justin, both my colleague and good friend, says that he can hardly understand what I said on the blog since they are mainly in Chinese, the other reason, however, is on myself. I find my writing skills in English is declining very greatly in past few months, and I wonder, it is time for a practice now.... Read More

Quality or Quantity: A Puzzle for Researchers

Frankly, this is not a suitable topic for me due to my limited experience on both research and academic given my present education as only a graduating master’s student. However, my limited experience, as well as my coming PhD life in Lancaster, do bring me an opportunity to think about: when doing some research, given two dimensions as measurement of the work as quality and quantity, which shall I prefer?... Writing a Mathematical Equation on Your Blog

In fact it is quite rare for a blog writer to put some mathematical models on the blog unless it is an article related to some very professional courses. However, low propability can hardly mean never happen. Taking myself for example, I would like to post some of my notes on econometrics and my feeling of research proposal with the blog readers, though I can write them with a Latex system and then compile it to a PDF document, providing it as an attachment for download. While I don’t think most readers would prefer such behavior. Reading that directly can be a much more pleasant experience, especially when there is not many complicated equations.... Read More
